It seems everyone has a blog these days…so why read another?
Because this blog will help you navigate your life’s purpose! I’m a Career Development Specialist who concentrates on providing the best and most comprehensive, result-oriented Work Readiness training on the planet.
If you have a career question, I have a career answer. There isn’t a question about careers that I haven’t tackled before. From how to wrap your arms around an ideal career to résumés to interviewing strategies to navigating salary negotiations and career transitioning … I’ve been there, I’ve taught that and I can tell you it’s not who you know, it’s what you do with what you know when you connect with right people that opens doors and closes deals…so listen up!
Begin by embracing my career philosophy: We are all here for a Reason our only job is to figure out why. The way we do that is by defining our gifts: Our natural strengths, abilities, skills and talents; our values; our interests; and our passions. We are then called to use our gifts to serve humanity and by serving others, we will do two things: We will discover the purpose of our life and we will make the world a better place.
So whether you’re just starting out in a new career or trying to reinvent yourself after a lay-off, begin by taking stock of your career gifts. You’ll be further along that 86% of working Americans who believe they’re in the wrong career and don’t know why. Most folks come right out of high school or college and take the first job that hits the radar, with little (or no) regard to selecting a career that flips their switch, or allows them to have fun and use their natural skill set.
How do you define your career gifts? Ask and answer these questions:
1. What do you do in your spare time?
2. What is the most fun thing you’ve ever done?
3. If you didn’t have to work, what would you do for free?
4. Whom would you choose to help, if you won the lottery today?
5. If you could have one job, for one day with no pay, what would you do?
Most of us daydream of a job that inspires us and makes a difference in the world. Remember, it’s never too late to be who you might have been. Start today…define your career gifts, set your sights on your dream job and discover the simple pleasure of loving your career!
